Open Loop Communications Private Limited (doing business as Ninternet) (“Ninternet”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) is committed to protecting your personal data and maintaining transparency about how we collect, use, store, and protect information.
This Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data when you use Ninternet services, including our mobile application, websites and portals, router software, and partner-enabled connectivity services.

3. Data We Collect
We collect only the data necessary to provide, secure, and improve Ninternet services. The categories below describe what we may collect depending on how you use the service.

3.2 Address and Service Eligibility
We may collect your address (or a service address) when needed to (a) check service availability, (b) support ISP partner eligibility or verification workflows, and (c) meet applicable legal or regulatory requirements. If address collection is not required for a particular flow, we will not request it.
3.3 Device, Router, and Identifier Information
May include:

MAC address used for network authentication (entered by you, for example, for device onboarding or access control)
Important: We use MAC address information solely for network authentication, security, troubleshooting, and fraud/abuse prevention. We do not use MAC addresses for advertising tracking or profiling.
3.4 Location Information (Nearest Hotspot)
We may collect location information to help you find and connect to the nearest hotspot or compatible network and to improve service availability mapping. Location collection is controlled by your device permissions. Where required, we request your permission before accessing location.
Depending on your settings and device, location may be:

We do not use location for advertising.
3.5 Network Usage Metadata, Diagnostics, and Speed Tests
We may collect technical metadata such as:

May include subscription status, plan details, and payment status. Billing and payment processing may be handled by an ISP partner or third-party payment provider; in such cases we may receive limited status information (for example, whether your plan is active) rather than full payment instrument details.

4. What We Do Not Collect or Do

During pilots or analytics programs, we may use aggregated or de-identified insights to improve network performance and platform reliability.
6. Legal Basis for Processing (India DPDP Act)
Where the India Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act) applies, we process personal data based on one or more of the following legal bases:

Consent: for example, when you allow location access or provide optional profile details.

Contract / Service Necessity: to create accounts, deliver connectivity features, run speed tests, and provide support.

Legitimate Uses / Reasonable Purposes: for security, fraud prevention, and service improvement consistent with user expectations.

7. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell personal data. We may share limited data with:

Infrastructure providers: for example cloud hosting and storage providers (such as AWS).

ISP partners: where necessary to deliver partner-enabled connectivity services (for example, plan status validation or operational support).

8. ISP Partner Data Handling
Ninternet operates in partnership with ISPs. In many cases, ISP authentication and subscriber validation (and billing, where applicable) occur directly through ISP systems. ISP partners may have their own privacy policies and terms that govern their handling of your data. Ninternet processes only the data necessary to deliver our platform services.
9. Permissions and User Controls
Our app may request device permissions to enable key functionality. For example:

Location permission: used to locate nearby hotspots and improve connectivity selection. You can disable location in your device settings; some hotspot features may be limited without it.

Network access/state: used to connect to networks, run diagnostics, and perform speed tests.
10. Data Retention
We retain data only as long as necessary for the purposes described above, unless a longer retention period is required by law (including telecom regulations), or for security, fraud prevention, or dispute resolution.

Where retention is required, we restrict access and use the data only for those purposes.

We use reasonable, industry-standard safeguards designed to protect personal data, including encryption in transit, access controls, security monitoring, and secure cloud hosting environments. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Ninternet services are not intended for children unless enabled through family subscriptions managed by an adult. Where required by law, we may request verifiable parental or guardian consent before processing a child's personal data.
14. International Data Transfers
If Ninternet expands globally, personal data may be processed in secure infrastructure outside India, subject to applicable legal requirements and appropriate safeguards.
